MERS in Korea

Read this NPR article:

Today, Wednesday, a few students at the English academy where I work were absent due to worries about the MERS virus.  A handful of others wore surgical-type masks, and one young student carried hand-sanitizer.

The news has reported that up to 200 schools in 4 provinces will temporarily close Thursday and Friday over health concerns.  One of my students told me that at her elementary school they did not do regular studies today, but rather focused on MERS education. Other students said that all school trips and events (such as soccer games) had been cancelled.

Apparently a WHO specialist team is coming to Korea to help with the virus research.

What happens over the next few days may affect a large part of the nation.
